Our friends, Katy, Parker, Douglas and Cinnamon reside in this pasture. When Katy joined the O.A.T.S. family in September 2021, it was love at first sight for her and Parker. Then, in March 2022 Douglas joined the O.A.T.S. family and formed a special bond with Cinnamon. These four love birds spend their days together strolling through the pasture and gathering at the hay box (When they're not chasing each other and running around like crazy).
Cinnamon*
Cinnamon is perhaps one of the most unique horses here at O.A.T.S. She is a boarder here at O.A.T.S. which means shes is privately-owned. She is a beloved member of the O.A.T.S. family and the only boarded horse on the farm to be used in our program. Cinnamon is one of the smallest horses on the farm and she has numerous allergies but she will take you for the ride of your life if you let her. While she may appear to be calm and gentle, Cinnamon's favorite speed is FAST!
Douglas
Douglas, an 18 year-old Quarter Horse, is named after the lovable dog in the Pixar movie UP. Dougie was adoped, along with his friend Liberty, from Starry Skies in March 2022. Douglas is full of energy and seems to really like people. We are so excited that Douglas is now part of the O.A.T.S. Family. Douglas spends his days rleaxing with his girlfriend Cinnamon. Check back soon to see how Douglas is doing.
Katy
Katy joined the O.A.T.S. Family in September 2021 when she was graciously donated to our organization. This beautiful young lady is the only O.A.T.S. horse to wear shoes beause, you know, a lady just needs her shoes. We don't question it. Our friends at Hawley Forge are happy to make sure Katy has the best shoes out there. She even had special shoes with studs on the bottom for the winter. The studs provided extra grip on slippery and icy surfaces. Katy is a remarkable horse and those who are fortunate enough to connect with her, including her boyfriend (Parker), know exactly why. Check back soon to learn more about our friend Katy.
Parker
My name is Parker. I’m a Thoroughbred, the same kind of horse as a racehorse, but I never ran on the track. I’m one of the newest horses that was donated to O.A.T.S., arriving here earlier this year. I was nervous to go to a new place after a life of being a show horse, but I have made so many new horse and people friends. Leo is my pasture-mate and best friend. We like to play and roughhouse, but we know when it is time to do our job.
At O.A.T.S I am used for the more advanced lessons. When our students learn to ride independently, without a leader, I teach them how to go in some of the faster gaits like the trot and canter. I’m very good at adjusting the way I go based on who is riding me. I can be a challenging speedy horse with a confident rider, or a pokey quiet ride for someone who needs to build more confidence. I’m so eager to work I am always the first to coming running in when someone comes to the gate.
