April 2013
Changing a child one ride at a time since 1997 ~ www.oatshrh.org
Walking on, carrying on

As Nancy would have wanted, the smiles at O.A.T.S. continue without skipping a hoofbeat. We are very happy that longtime certified instructor-volunteer-parent Beth Pellerito is our interim executive director for the program. We can't thank everyone enough who offered their help and support during this difficult time, and continue to make the program possible. Whether it was a financial gift or the gift of time, we appreciate it. In particular, we'd like to thank rider Kayla Cohen's dad for helping out by doing much-needed repairs; Steve the tree guy from Season's Best for clearing our trails of trees (if you need tree trimming or to rent a tent and more for a party, call Steve at 248.738.4904); Melinda Hyde's husband Damian for giving all our horses' feet a pro bono manicure; and Gretchen for all the work she does in the office.

If you haven't already, visit www.oatshrh.org to read the letter posted by the president of our board of directors, Claudine Hildreth. You'll also find links to some wonderful stories about Nancy and O.A.T.S. that ran in some local papers.

First Horses for Heroes program concludes

We were so glad to have the opportunity to work with the General Motors Veteran's Affinity Group to serve our country's wounded warriors. The program was such a success we're already planning for the next. If you're a veteran interested in riding or volunteering to help fellow veterans during the class, please contact O.A.T.S. at 248.620.1775.
